Just a short 20-minute drive from Fort Pierce lies the enchanting McKee Botanical Garden. This location beautifully merges art and nature, featuring a diverse collection of tropical plants, engaging art exhibitions, and a dedicated children’s garden. Visiting McKee Botanical Garden is a unique way to spend an afternoon and an excellent addition to any weekend getaway based in Fort Pierce, offering a peaceful and inspiring experience. Adult tickets are currently priced at $15.
Pinellas Trail – Dunedin & Honeymoon Island State Park

Our accommodation conveniently provided bike rentals, making it easy to set off and explore the area by pedal power. Downtown Dunedin is a charming, compact area featuring historical buildings, delightful boutique stores, and fantastic restaurants. Cycling along the Pinellas Trail, we visited some local breweries, paused at points of interest along the way, and enjoyed the lively atmosphere of various areas bordering the trail.
Venturing across the causeway, we arrived at Honeymoon Island State Park. This island is celebrated for its beautiful white sandy beaches and abundant wildlife. The park also features a network of biking trails which we explored, finding the island truly beautiful. There’s a cafe overlooking a stretch of beach, providing a perfect spot to lock up the bikes and enjoy a coffee while taking in the scenic views.
