Preparing for Your Visit to the Las Vegas Veterinary Referral Center
We understand that your time is valuable, and we strive to make the process of receiving support as efficient as possible. Appointments are scheduled with your needs and availability in mind. We offer several convenient methods for obtaining an appointment for services at our center.
We welcome walk-ins at any time during our operating hours. You do not need a prior appointment to come in and speak with someone. Referrals from other services or individuals can also help you receive a prompt appointment. Additionally, you are always welcome to call us directly to request an appointment; simply dial our main number and ask to speak with a counselor.
To establish eligibility during your first visit, you do not need to be currently registered for care at a VA medical facility, have a service-connected disability rating, or be receiving any other form of VA benefits. On your initial visit, we will need to see one or more documents that verify your military service.
This could include discharge documents such as a DD214, proof of receiving certain military awards, deployment orders, or any other official documents that clearly show qualifying military service. If you do not have these documents readily available, please still come in. We are here to work with you to establish your eligibility and answer any questions you may have about the process or the services we provide.

Convenient parking is available for visitors to the Las Vegas Vet Center. Parking is located behind the Longford Medical Building within the parking garage structure.
Dedicated Vet Center parking is located on the third floor of the garage. There is a covered breezeway from the third floor that leads directly into the second floor of the building. Once inside the building, simply stay to the right of the hallway. The Las Vegas Vet Center is located at the end of this hallway on the right-hand side.

Grief and Bereavement Counseling

At the Las Vegas Vet Center, we host a Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) group specifically for those who have lost a military loved one. We offer both private one-on-one counseling sessions and opportunities to participate in group therapy specifically focused on processing trauma and developing coping strategies. We can also facilitate referrals to VA or community counseling resources for further treatment and therapy options.
Here at the Las Vegas Vet Center, we utilize several evidence-based treatment modalities. These include one-on-one counseling sessions that are personalized to your individual needs, various forms of group counseling (such as groups for Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans, Vietnam Veterans, and Spouse/Significant Others), and activities-based counseling approaches. Non-Medical, Community-Based Support
Vet Centers are designed to be small, non-medical counseling centers. They are conveniently located within communities to be easily accessible. They are staffed by highly trained counselors and team members who are dedicated to supporting you through the challenges that can arise during and after your military service. Whether you participate in one-on-one counseling or group sessions, Vet Centers provide a space where you can form social connections, explore new activities, and build a strong support system with people who truly understand your experiences and are invested in your success.
Eligibility is Flexible
You may be eligible for Vet Center services regardless of your discharge status or whether you are eligible for VA health care. We strongly encourage you to contact us even if you are unsure about your eligibility. If we are unable to directly assist you with our services, we will work to connect you with someone who can provide the help you need.
If you are a Veteran or service member (including National Guard and Reserves), you are generally eligible if you meet any of these service requirements: You served on active duty in any combat theater or area of hostility, provided mortuary services or direct emergency medical care to treat casualties of war while on active duty, were a member of an unmanned aerial vehicle crew providing direct support to operations in a combat theater or area of hostility, served on active duty in response to a national emergency or major disaster declared by the president or under state orders for disaster/civil disorder, or are a current/former Coast Guard member who participated in a drug interdiction operation. Current members of the Reserve Component assigned to a military command in a drill status (including active Reserves) needing help for a behavioral health condition or psychological trauma related to service are also eligible.
Additionally, if you are a Veteran or service member (including National Guard and Reserves), you are also eligible for Vet Center services if any of these descriptions apply to you: You are a Vietnam Era Veteran who used Vet Center services before January 2, 2013, you experienced military sexual trauma (regardless of service era), or you currently use any covered VA educational assistance benefits.
